Reading this article and connecting with their website, may seriously influence the choice of foods you eat .
Would you be able to remember all the different codes on the food products in the supermarket? I won't!
The chemical maze is a very handy guide in establishing what you are truly buying.
For example, I wanted to buy some gelatine and went to the supermarket. Each gelatine I picked up contained the additive 220, which stand for Sulphur Dioxide.
Looking up the implications in the Chemical Maze, it told me:
. Preservative Antioxidant
. 2 very sad faces
. Potential Health Effects;
* Asthma
* Hyperactivity
* Headache
* Backache
* Gastric Irritation
* Liver toxicity
* Destroys Vitamin A in the food
* Bronchitis
* Nausea
* Teratogen ( can have negative impact on
unborn baby)
It took me 4 trips to different supermarkets, before I found a safe gelatine.
There was a mention of foods this is used in.
* Dried Fruit
* Beer
* Fruit Juice
* Gelatine
* Wine
* Soft Drink
* Cordial
* Jam
* Dairy Products
* Patato Products
* Soup
Does this mean we can't find safe foods?
No it means, that the more conscious the consumer becomes, and refuses to buy foods, with 'rubbish' in it, the manufactures will provide us with more healthy choices!!
Most manufactures are mainly interested in money, and when their products sell less, they will provide the market with what the consumer wants.
